This time of year is all about family and in this photo John Jay and younger sister Judy ride in a carriage pulled by Tony, the family mule.
In the mid-1960s, Judy and her husband, David Cromwell, purchased the home from her mother and took on a renovation of the house and grounds, adding elaborate walls and walks constructed of brick reclaimed from the Camperdown Cotton Mill.
John Jay grew up to become a pioneer in public television. Among his many accomplishments, Queen Elizabeth II made him an honorary commander of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his outstanding contribution to British television interests in the United States.
