The idea of fast and casual dining has reached a new level with the opening of Tablefields Market Kitchen, one the newest restaurants launched by locally owned Café Enterprises Inc.
With fresh ingredients sourced from more than 16 local producers and farmers, Tablefields’ menu is full of tasty options — small plates, scratch-made pizzas with gluten-free crust, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and such heartwarming entrees as shrimp and grits (finished with coffee gravy), slow-cooked pot roast and meatloaf.
“It’s a fast-casual concept that’s a little more dinner focused,” says Jim Balis, chief executive officer of Cafe Enterprises. “We found that diners are looking for a faster dining experience with higher-quality food. We think we’re ahead of the curve with Tablefields.”
Dig into one of the hearty burger options such as the signature stout beer burger topped with horseradish farm cheddar, caramelized onions and a scratch-made stout beer sauce on a warm brioche bun. Using only Angus beef from Yon Family Farms in Ridge Spring, Tablefields custom blends each patty with brisket, chuck and short rib for optimum flavor and juiciness.
Balis says the black-eyed pea cakes is one of the most-ordered dishes. Made-from-scratch vegan black-eyed pea cakes are topped with a dollop of house-made chunky guacamole and accompanied by farro, edamame, radishes and a black barley salad. Also try the delicious BLEAT sandwich which is layered with pecan-smoked bacon, fresh avocado, heirloom tomatoes and a fried egg between wheat bread; every bite screams fresh. Tablefields’ menu is seasonal, so be sure to check the blackboard for specials.
In addition to a welcoming vibe, inside you’ll find a laid-back decor with a mix of seating options. Diners can chose from a cluster of tables, an intimate booth, a comfy sofa or a stool at the bar. When weather permits, diners can also enjoy meals outside on the patio. Balis says guests control the speed of their dining experience, whether grabbing something to go or taking time to relax in the restaurant.
Quench your thirst with one of the natural sodas sweetened from pure cane sugar or go for the cucumber water, iced tea or wine. A selection of local and regional brews are also available.
Food lovers can take home or gift a local goodie from the retail area. Fat and Juicy Bloody Mary mix, Blue Moon sauces and seasonings, breads, coffees, honey and more are all offered.
