The great thing about a gift-guide issue is the opportunity to spend long periods of time examining the best trends of the season with the sole purpose of choosing which ones we like best.
This year we came up with our own personal “lust list” — full of the latest ideas for adding a little something special to your wardrobe or finding the very best gadgets for the techie at your house. We even have a guide for the greatest holiday cards to accompany it all.
After all of the excitement around here died down and the choices were made, I found myself daydreaming about one dress chosen to illustrate two of the latest fashion trends: a particularly chic, aubergine sweater dress with faux fur cuffs and a zipper in the back; making a statement coming or going would be a given.
I should state now that I do not need this dress. After all, I have several similar styles hanging in my closet right now — minus the fur cuffs, purple color and zipper, that is. So the question becomes the same as always: Is such a desire a want or a need?
In this case, most would answer a resounding “want,” and who could argue against that?
On the other hand, it is almost the most wonderful time of the year.
And what’s a holiday without a little treat you don’t really need?
