Cindy and Buzz Luthi had plenty of time to look at the house they have called home for the last 13 years before buying it and moving in. After all, it is right across the street from their former residence and in the middle of the established neighborhood where they have happily raised their three children.

“This house suited our style,” says Cindy. “The flow is perfect for how we live and for our furniture. We made a few changes, but tried to do them in keeping with the era of the home.”

The house was actually built by the Poe family in 1927. Of course, when your former home was built in 1810, this can seem like almost-new construction.

Cindy says her daughter, Elise, is a history buff, and at first resisted the idea of moving.

“This house has plenty of history, too. All of the nine chandeliers are original to the house, with one in almost every room, even some in the bedrooms.”

Of course, the additions that have been made along the way, like tennis courts and the “teenage house,” a separate building in the back of the property, have done much to update.

Traditional decorations for the holidays fit right in as well — perfect for a family happy to keep their piece of history going strong.
