Susie Wherry's philosophy when it comes to the home she shares with husband Danny is fairly simple: Nothing is too good to be used every day, and commonality with the outside is a must.
Of course, when the inside of your home is filled with collections of art and antiques, and the outside boasts a view of the surrounding woods and a fabulous garden that wraps around the house like it was always there, the ideas make a lot of sense.
Susie says the process of making this new house a home started with a plan.
“We knew the house had good bones and sat well on the property when we purchased it in 1997, and now we have renovated three times. It was a plain ranch house when we moved here, and now the feeling is very pastoral, just what we wanted.”
Standing anywhere at the back of the house offers a spectacular view of the carefully tended gardens, and, on any given day, a visit from the guinea hens who share the space.
The Wherrys are currently considering a second home in Italy, which should come as no surprise to those who know them. After all, a love for creating beauty inside and out opens up all kinds of opportunities.
We're just hoping to be invited for a visit!
